Tutoring Overview

Tutoring is provided free of charge to those students enrolled in selected courses. Various services are available to students interested in increasing their subject knowledge and overall academic success.

The Learning Skills Center offers drop-in tutoring and small group tutoring. We also offer appointments with specialists.

Drop-In Tutoring

The LSC has three drop-in tutoring centers. LSC specialist and trained student tutors are available to help you with:

  • Chemistry/Biology
    • NEW LOCATION in 123 South Hall
    • check the chem tutor schedule
    • Science Skills Specialists and tutors are available to assist with Biology 1ABC, 10, 101, 102,
      Workload Chemistry 41C and Chemistry 2ABC, 8AB, 118ABC
  • Math/Stats
      NEW LOCATION in 125 South Hall
    • check the math tutor schedule
    • Math Specialists and tutors are available to help you with WLD 55, Math BCD, Pre-16A, Math 12, Pre-21A, 16ABC, 17ABC, 21ABCD, 22AB,
      STATS 13, STATS 103
  • Writing
    • Located in 2262 Dutton Hall
    • Hours for Fall are: Monday-Thursday, 9am-4pm and Fridays 9am-3pm
    • Writing drop-in is available for students who need assistance with any writing assignment. Tutors will assist students with paragraph development, punctuation, and grammar.
    • You must bring a paper draft for any drop-in writing tutoring session.
      Sorry, we cannot read drafts on laptop screens.

Small Group Tutoring   (sign-in to tutor trac)

Students may sign up for group tutoring by going to lsc.ucdavis.edu:20000. Read and follow the directions provided on the login page to enter the group scheduling area. Make sure you know your course section # before selecting a tutoring group. All tutoring meets weekly and attendance is mandatory. The tutors who will be working with you are undergraduate students trained by the LSC. The tutors follow the pace of your class and offer content review, practice problems, and will answer questions about the course material.

Currently Small Group tutoring is available for Fall in:
BIS 2abc; Chem 2a, 118ab, 8ab; Math 16ab, 17ab, 21ab; Phys 7abc, 9ab.

Student Employment

If you are interested in becoming a tutor, you must first visit the Student Jobs website. Positions will be listed as they become available. If a position is available and you are qualified for that position, please come to 2205 Dutton Hall to submit an application.

Appointments with Specialists

Individual and group appointments can be made with the LSC Specialists. You can call 530.752.2013 OR stop by 2205 Dutton Hall to make appointments OR check the Staff Directory to contact subject specialists directly.
